Andrea Placer is an artist who uses pencil drawing, with graphite or
colored/watercolor pencils, to express mood, emotion, and the beauty of
ordinary objects in nature. Andrea's work can be almost photorealistic,
but conveys a warmth derived from attention to detail and the
application and blending of layers of color. Pencil strokes may be
boldly or subtly applied, resulting in wonderful variation and
versatility.
Professionally, an educator for more than 25 years, Andrea has always
been involved in the arts; has painted in oils and acrylics; and has
found expression through the medium of pencil drawing. Andrea is
essentially self-taught, but has taken classes through local schools and
museums wherever she has lived. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, she
has been a resident of the the Pascack Valley area of New Jersey for
almost 30 years.Andrea's work has been juried into many regional and national
